Reading and Listening use multiple stages

The official 2026 TOEFL uses multistage routing in Reading and Listening. That means preparation should include both task accuracy and steady pacing across modules. TOEFL Lab currently keeps its Full Test Simulation fixed-balanced while difficulty calibration for performance-based routing remains separate from the public product.

Writing and Speaking use the new task families

Writing combines sentence construction with practical email and academic discussion responses. Speaking combines Listen and Repeat with an interview-style task. Old preparation material that focuses only on pre-2026 task types is not enough to cover this structure.

What should you practice first?

Learn each task type in Section Practice, then use a Full Test Simulation to check pacing across the complete test. If your exam date is already set, use a study schedule to decide how often each section appears in your week.
